Orchard Run

Hello! We are a small breeder located in the middle of Washington State. We show and work our dogs because we love our dogs, we love seeing them be all they are born and bred to be, and we love the people who are doing these activties too. We are dedicated to promoting the Labrador Retriever as an All-Around Dog and when showing and breeding we are committed to this in addition to being sound in both type and temperament and contributing to the improvement of the breed. Like our local breed club It is our belief that: A show dog that will not retrieve is not a true Labrador There is no reason why a hunting dog should not conform to the breed standard That Labradors should be well-mannered family members To these ends our puppy programs promote happy, healthy, sound, conformationally correct companions for family, field, special service, special work, and show...and our adult dogs reflect this committment. To prove this committment we show our dogs in AKC-licensed Specialty Shows, Obedience Trials, Hunting Tests, have dogs certified for Therapy Dog and Canine Good Citizen too, and list all health clearances and pedigrees for review. Additionally, we love that we are small because we are able to give special attention to our puppy programs in the way that we would want a breeder that we would purchase from to...It's the Golden Rule at work. It's our integrity and firm belief that if it's worth doing it's worth doing well! We view our puppy families as an extension of our community and together we share pictures, video, stories, and our time socially as we support and encourage each other through the ups and downs of dog ownership and the lifestyle of it that we all enjoy =) Our Facebook Page has been particularly integral in facilitating this community. We encourage all of our families to deliberately and purposfully socialize their puppies properly in their first year in addition to basic and/or specialized training for themselves and their pups to develop their full potential...Well mannered and confident companions are no accident. While showing is not for everyone we are privilaged to encourage and mentor any of our families interested in pursuing our Club's All-Around Labrador Award which is given to dogs with titles in all three areas: Conformation, Obedience, and Field. The club also gives a Versatility Award to dogs who excel in three areas other than conformation.
